Why did each and everyone of them defend torture??

It seemed like they had the entire Bush Administration on the news shows yesterday, except Bush himself. Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Daughter Liz, CIA Hayden, Homeland Security Chertoff, and others. Each one of them made a point to defend waterboarding and torture as a way to get intelligence from prisoners. Why did they feel the need to go there?

Is it that their consciences are bothering them? Or are they afraid they may have to stand before a world court? Or are they simply afraid that the American people have already rendered a judgement?

With no proof, they said that the intelligence they got with torture led to the discovery and killing of Bin Laden. If that were true, then would not they have been able to find Bin Laden when they were in charge? If they had the intelligence, what stopped them?

But, in my opinion, they defined the Bush years in their defense of waterboarding and torture. The lawyers said they could do it? What more did they need? John Yoo said it was OK? That is about the weakest excuse I have ever heard. They are a despicable bunch of people.
