My sig line is from a song- "You can bomb the world to pieces, but you can't bomb it into peace."
I can't help but use an analogy that is the kind I dislike. But bear with me. In thermodynamics there is a method of setting up an environment in which the system takes place. In the real total universe, entropy is increasing. But in an arbitrary universe that takes place within a smaller boundary, entropy may very well be decreasing. I see it the same way as this chanting of USA outside of the White House, cheering on the death of Osama. If I look at the bigger boundary set, I see deaths from wars that go back thousands of years. But if I look at New York in 2001, I see just the twin towers that were destroyed. I cannot exclude what went before that. But more importantly, I try to look at this the way that someone like Jesus would have. There is no doubt in my mind that the single most important thing is to try to break the cycle of violence. It does take two. And taking the pacifist's way out isn't always the complete answer. It seems pretty obvious to me that America has brought this upon itself. I saw 911 coming long ago. I guess I can't improve on "Love they enemy". That's really at the heart of what I'm trying to say. When history looks back on this time, it will be obvious that our irresponsible use of fossil fuel was at the heart of most of the problems we endured.
