60. When I first started working, the minimum wage was somewhere
around a dollar an hour. It is many times that now because of inflation. If we only get back $300,000 and put in $100,000, we are only getting back 3 times the value of what we put in although the value of the money we put in when we were young has risen far more than that. The value of our contributions should have increased far more. What happened to the rest of our money? That is what we are asking.

Please remember that the average Social Security benefit is less than $1200 per month. That is not a lot of money.

Please note also that seniors who saved their money are not receiving any interest on their savings, so you can't blame seniors for not saving enough. Savings do not help increase income at this time. There is no way that an ordinary senior who had ordinary jobs during his or her working life can meaningfully supplement Social Security at this time with interest or income on savings.
