7. You are totally correct
I think everyone should recall what those 8 years of the Bush administration were like for those of us who didn't vote for him. "Who cares what you think," he said. He made no pretense to being the president of every American, as evidenced in the crass and callous reaction to the people (black, Democratic) who suffered in Katrina and were held hostage in a stadium.

I wished every day that he had remembered that he was supposed to be the president of ALL Americans, not just those who voted for him.

It may look rough to us, but I think Obama is trying to be that president. It was evident from his first "there are no red states and blue states" speech at the 2004 convention, and in the hard compromises he has had to make. But underneath it all, he has still tried to push as much as he is able for the basic things that will move the country forward. It may not look like that day to day, and he's made some disappointing compromises, but I do believe he is trying to accommodate all citizens in this nation.
