6. I'm not sure (technically) why his ratings are solidifying above 50 but they are. theory:
He is being reversely tainted by all that is going on in the many states where Republican governments have been overwhelmingly rejected. Between just Ohio and Florida, two states that would nearly guarantee his reelection in either or, both governors are reviled. Perhaps he is getting approval by default? I mean after all many of these people are probably saying "my God, what is the alternative?"

Gas prices have started falling in Houston maybe this could be something, but I can't believe that has kicked into effect yet in polling.

I have to admit, my opinion of the average American voter has been fairly low: Our president could be conducting five wars, helping add CO2 in massive new amounts to the atmosphere and, from what I can tell, be sending cute little puppies to be euthanized by the thousands each day, but if they have jobs (has something happened here I have missed?) and can buy some new electronics, and don't feel too much pain at the pump, they will reelect him. Should we demand more from our own party's president? Or perhaps we can be satisfied that he is the presidents who has the ability to keep the other side out. That is still a discouraging thought for me.
