It's not his job to tell people to vote and especially vote a certain way. Quite frankly, he came too close to that "after-school special" moment that South Park parodies at the end of every show with his speech at the end. The rally was a parody of what Beck does, not a reply. It may very well have been a waste of time to you, but in the end it was nothing more than a big entertainment show anyhow and the people who showed up got what they wanted out of it. The people in the crowd are generally disillusioned and probably will be catching up on their TiVo tonight aside from watching the Daily Show and Colbert while you and I cry about election results and the oncoming disaster. They'll probably be happier folks for it.
