like Social Security, and we pay a monthly premium. Then we pay co-pays unless we fell for the Medicare Advantage scam. If we did that, we pay monthly premiums to private insurance companies AND premiums directly to the Medicare Fund. Regarding SS, it is supposed to be, and is right now until at least 2037, a self-sustaining fund. It in no way effects the deficit. It is pooled money accessed by those who paid into it the majority of or their entire working lives. Simpson is either a liar or stupid, and either way, he thinks we're stupid. If you don't believe this, Google any or all of my points and prove it to yourself. See Krugman on this, too. Simpson is trying to stop the employer/corporate matching funds that must be paid into these funds. Every cent a worker pays into SS and Medicare must be matched by their employer. This is mandatory. If a retirement plan was given to workers at the discretion of the employer, guess what would happen? Nothing. They don't want to give you living wages, much less benefits. They don't even really want to give you a job if they can outsource it to a third world country or China and pay in shiny beads. Don't put up with this. If you won't fight for yourself, consider it a full frontal assault on your Grandma. Get them.
