To me at least it's a sad commentary on a supposedly civilized society to have to pack a gun, but I can certainly see it as a solution for some. Years ago one of my friends used to have a permit for a concealed shoulder holster and packed a gun.

He was not a gun nut, did not look or act gay in the least, but had been hassled. Today IMO there are an awful lot of crazies running about. Some need no provocation at all to beat on someone gay or straight. Another of my friends was a professor and was jumped and nearly killed, some jerks thought he was gay when in fact he was not in the least and was married. He just did not look like a thug like them.

Weird world and even stranger people. It has crossed my mind more than once to carry a concealed weapon.

PS: I have no idea what the laws are in NJ for guns.
