42. I've been bitten twice by poodles. One mine when I first got her.
The second, the day after she was spayed and I picked her up. Been bit by a Pom too.

Those are the only times I've been bitten where it broke skin. Other bites have been did not break skin or even scratch. Some probably think that all Chihuahuas are monsters but I all that I have fostered have been sweethearts.

As for the pit bull issue it isn't the dog but the owner. Sure there may be issues with the dog but there will always be issues with any dog.

You have to consider the risks you want to take. Both personally and in court. And the purpose and how much you want to invest in the dog. If you are just looking for companionship primarily or for protection. Either will require some training with protection requiring more.

Then you need to decide what type of personality you want with the dog.

Your request for breeds that are no threat to humans... There are none! There are degrees of threat from just harm all the way to serious injury or death.
