64. "Empower Yourself! Fuck the Small Retailer! Prove a Point! Put Someone Out of Work!"
I live in a small community. The mountaintop valley I live in supports 16,000 people about a hundred miles outside of Los Angeles. Supporting my local retailers means keeping my community alive.

Do I support the vitality of my community, or do I withhold my dollars in support of some pithy attempt to hold "The Man's" feet to the fire, and put the employment of thousands in peril?

I don't know where you live, but here we have THREE chain stores. Vons, Stater Bros., and K-Mart. EVERY other business depends on "local dollars" to survive. Tire shops, the local electricians; contractors; and what-not. To withhold my dollars at ANY time means I put my fellow mountaintop residents in peril. Is that what you would have me do? Fuck the fact that I mentioned chain stores down the hill, your call is for everyone to withhold every dollar they can from every retailer possible.

Forgive the fuck out of me if I take issue with your misguided wish that every retailer everywhere suffer because of your misguided need to make "The Man" suffer.

You'd have rural communities shrivel and die to prove a point, and that point I'm still at a loss to ascertain.
