They get a roof, basic food, and health care.

Do you really think that would be a big problem? Do you really think a big chunk of the population would "choose" not to work and thus live the life of someone who has a crappy place to live and not much more? I don't care if it's one or five or ten or twenty percent of the population (the latter of which is a very high estimate), I'd rather my taxes go there than to the war industry, which gobbles our tax money at an exponentially higher rate than people who need basic food, clothing, and shelter.

Oh, and look how outnumbered you are. If you think people should die in the streets and not have access to health care because their job doesn't pay enough or they can't find work, maybe you should fuck off and find another web site.
