My neighborhood was a place where many of the people were very materialistic and exceedingly shallow. The majority of the people in the "in crowd" at my high school were very selfish and rather intolerant. They hated and antagonized pretty much anybody that didn't toe their line and didn't think the way they did. A lot of them were racist, homophobic and sexist as well.
