Moral Outrage Scorecard

Due to working overtime on trying to land a dream job, I'm a little behind on the recent spate of moral outrages that have occurred since the weekend's Million Klan march:

I will not forgive Rep. Joe Wilson until he apologizes for either lying himself or making a mistake when he called Obama a liar.

I forgive Serena Williams. Her John McEnroe-era tirade was her first offense of that nature, and subsequent reports have indicated that the line judge DID make the wrong call.

I will not forgive Kanye West. His actions were unprofessional, impolite, uncivilized, anti-artistic, dishonored what he said about Hurricane Katrina, and worst of all, could easily be interpreted as racist. Then he shows up on Jay Leno trying to hide behind alcohol and his dead mother!!!

I forgive President Obama for calling Kanye West a jackass. It was supposed to be off the record, and more to the point, Kanye West IS a jackass.

Now about this job--it involves transitioning a 160-column spreadsheet into a database management system. Since my potential interviewers were clearly too low-tech to understand what that actually means, I decided to put together a sample of how it could work. I was unsuccessful in downloading a trial copy of the required database software to my Mac-enstein, but I found an unpackaged version of it for only fifty bucks!

My interviewers were so delighted with the sample they asked to keep the CD I'd burned it to. And a funny thing happened during the skills test--it required entering a data format that I didn't know existed until reading about it the night before. Hopefully, all this effort will result in a "bye" into the next round of interviews.
