I live in a suburban area surrounded by two gated communities, where an occasional homeless individual will make their way down from the city. The temperature was in the 90s, so I bought the guy a frozen yogurt, two bottled waters, and a battery operated fan with a supply of batteries. As I handed him the bag, the police rolled up to shoo him away and told me if people start giving items to the homeless, they'll think the area is friendly to "their kind." Absolutely disgusting.
