5. I bought rib dinners for a homeless man I saw picking out of the dumpster.
He was emaciated and obviously not well. I went into the restaurant that my husband and I had just left, and I ordered two rib dinners to go (it was two for one night). As the manager/owner was ringing up my order, I told her that this was for the homeless man outside.

She went pale and began shaking. She was infuriated that I was going to feed this homeless person who was picking through her garbage. She began hollering at somebody to chase the man off. I told her to at least wait until I had a chance to give him his food so that he could take it somewhere else to eat in peace.

I will never forget the change in her demeanor - from perfectly pleasant to shaking with rage - as she realized I was buying food for the homeless man outside.
