Most of the Raleigh crowd was still very white. Very, very white.

While the attendees did not quite match that poor rag-tab KKK group that used to demonstrate in NC, it was much like that. Even with the few blacks sprinkled among the attendees. No Hispanic, or Asian, or other ethnic group seemed to be represented.

I think the OP was over the top, but there is a kernel of truth in their argument.
