4. Well, don`t forget who actually run this country: the guys in the uniform.
The Turkish military has said that they won`t bow to the EU which means that they will not give up their power.As long as this is the case then they won`t be able to join the EU either.In a "healthy" democracy it`s the Government that controls the army and not vice versa.
By the way, Turkey has banned death penalty.But there are many other problems in Turkey that makes it difficult for Turkey to meet the EU requirements.They have made some reforms but it`s going extremely slow.
