I think that the Dems are more concerned about risking an open election in 2010 than any Blagojevich taint. If Burris is only going to be a placeholder (he is 71 years old) then they should seat him and have an open election in 2010. Blegojevich is not going to resign, and he is not going to cede his authority to Pat Quinn. This Senate seat can be held up indefinitely, which means we have one less Democratic vote, since the state legislature has decided against a special election.
