5. wow--i didn't realize...this from weather.com:
Dakotas and Nebraska today, but the storm will be winding down.

This storm paralyzed the western Dakotas with heavy snow and fierce winds that closed roads and left thousands without power.

A whopping 46 inches of snow overwhelmed the Deadwood, S.D., area. Some drifts in the Black Hills were 20 feet high. The Rapid City area dealt with a foot of snow and wind gusts close to 80 mph.

Elsewhere, a cold front will trigger a few showers and thunderstorms from the Great lakes to the Ohio Valley.

Highs today will be well below average from Dakotas to Missouri and western Illinois but well above average ahead of the front in the eastern Ohio Valley.

Highs will range from the 30s in the Dakotas to the 60s in the Ohio Valley.

Look for snow showers or a combination of rain and snow showers from the northern Mississippi Valley into the western Great Lakes on Saturday.

It will be windy, as well.

After recent record warmth, the region will turn cold with highs ranging from the upper 20s in the central Dakotas to the upper 40s and lower 50s in the Ohio Valley and the mid 60s in southwestern Kansas.

Sunday will feature rain and snow showers across the Great Lakes region.
