Something I learned from "The Power of Nightmares"

I just watched "The Power of Nightmares" and discovered something rather startling.

A few years ago, I remember seeing here on DU a graphic someone posted about "Al Quaeda's sophisticated underground bunkers" along with what I thought were humorous labels for the various features within the bunker. (I've posted the graphic below.) Anyway, at the time, it was hilarious because it was, I thought, the product of a humorist making fun of the obviously exaggerated sophistication of the all-powerful "Al-Quaeda."

So I was quite shocked to see this very same graphic in "The Power of Nightmares." It was actually something seriously promoted by none other than Rumsfeld! There he was, talking to, I think, Tim Russert, who was actually taking it seriously. I never realized that this was something produced by the neo-con fantasy factory and apparently accepted as fact by what we laughingly refer to as "the press." Amazing and very, very depressing at the same time.
