73. I Saw The Game Play Here...
Actually in the 80's and 90's, both parties got weak and top heavy. While Democrats ignored local races and the party withered, Repugnicans were infilitrated by special interests who worked their way up and padded resumes, with the party's help. A lot of these people brough money and votes with them as well...and it became a "self-fulfilled prophecy" as the more money and votes they gained, the more power and more influence within the county then state and national parties.

Eventually, the repugnican party will have to come to terms as to which party it is...does it represent a secular or religious agenda? Is it truely a party of fiscal responsibility or is that a smoke screen to allow for massive corporate abuses and corruption? I think it's gonna take a long time for these questions to get sorted out.

When I moved to this area 25 years ago, it was flaming red. Over the years, a group of local Democrats...mostly city folk like myself...began to work to revive the party and then helped make it competitive again. Today I'm in a full blue area...the state and local GOOP collapsed from their own hypocrisies and largess and the battle between the moderates and the right wingers. I see a similar scenario happening on a national level.

Cheers...
