177. He is taking a stand on Dialog and Reason.
The very things that this country was based on.
He is taking a stand on not relying on stubborn ideology, and dismissing other peoples concerns and input out of hand.
He is taking a stand on listenening to all sides. He is taking a stand on trying to heal the rifts that have torn America apart for too many years.
It's too easy for us to sit back and point at the last 8 years and scream "I told you so!".
But if we really want to make progress, we can't force our ideology down our opponenets throats like the Repukes did. We have to win them over, or at least some of them. And the only way to do that is to let them know that we are at least willing to listen. That is what makes us better than them - tolerance, and the ability to listen to their concerns.
Yes, most of the Repuke issues echo Corporate America and not the American People. But how do we prove that to the American People? But forcing our policies down their throats? NO. That is not the Progressive way, and it is not productive.

Has it honestly been so long since this country has seen Real Leadership that we have forgotten what it looks like? Obama is not tryig to lead Democrats, he is trying to lead the Country.

Sometimes, you have to make some concessions in some battles if you want to win the war. In this case, winning the war means healing and restoring our country. And restoring it's moral compass. Not the Fundie morals, but the morals of Democratic Principles.

Democratic Principles means EVERYONE has a voice.

Posts like this make me ashamed. Sometimes we are no better than the Repukes. Although I can understand the bitterness, we should still be better than this. And it shows just how much healing needs to be done.
