On edit the story:

Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning.

A Politico reporter saw Novak in the front of a police car with a citation in his hand; a WJLA-TV crew and reporter saw Novak as well. The pedestrian was hospitalized but there were no details about the person’s condition. Novak was later released and left the scene.

“I didn’t know I hit him,” Novak told Politico. Novak said he was a block away when a bicyclist stopped him and said, "You hit someone." He said he was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

D.C. police confirmed that there was an accident at 18th and K streets N.W. at approximately 10 a.m. involving a black Corvette convertible and that the driver was a white male.

WJLA has story:

Prominent Washington commentator Robert Novak was cited with failure to yield to a pedestrian Wednesday morning after striking a pedestrian with his Corvette, Novak confirmed to ABC 7 News.

The collision happened about 10:07 a.m. at 18th and K streets NW.

Novak was not arrested. He spoke to ABC 7 News at the scene. Novak said he did not know he had struck anyone.

Metropolitan Police Department (web|news) officers detained Novak at the scene for about an hour.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter said the pedestrian complained of pain in his arm was taken to George Washington University Hospital with minor injuries.
