I was there, and also the one bordering the forest...I'm overwhelmed with new kaserne names, I can't remember the ones that closed down. It will probably take me a couple of months to memorize my new mailbox combination.

Isn't Neureut the town right on the northern edge of the Black Forest where the A strassenbahn went?

I'll bet you went to the Canadian Kaserne near Baden Baden a time or two. It's now a Ryan Air/Berlin Air airport, w/quick flights to Spain!

I used to go to the French Kaserne in Karlsruhe for their bread, cheeses, and wine. I loved that place. They also had the French Duty Train that went to Berlin, leaving around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, I think, for about 10 DM and very excellent room service! What a deal, and so interesting to hit a border crossing in the dead of winter, late at night, having to stay in one's room and not even look out a window--but I had to use the toilet, so saw (Russian?) guards with long woolen trench coats and fur hats carrying guns.
