My mother works as a transciptionist for the Canonical court for the local diocese. The dissolution and annulment process are much more lax than they used to be. The church readily and commonly dissolves marriages allowing divorce without sin. She is 72, has been working there for 3 decades, and is full time. So, it's obviously pretty common.
