Testimony should shed light on story

Rainsville attorney Jill Simpson, whose allegations about White House involvement in the investigation of former Gov. Don Siegelman have been disputed, should welcome the opportunity to testify under oath before a congressional committee next week.

We trust the committee will extend the same courtesy to the people Simpson says were involved in a 2002 conference call in which she alleges that Siegelman’s future was discussed.......

Canary and Bob Riley have said they have no recollection of the conversation. Butts has flatly denied that it ever took place.

It’s a bizarre story but stranger things have happened. The seriousness of the allegation warrants the sworn testimony of all involved before Congress.
