31. Highway robbery!
The same thing happened to me when I turned 62. I figured out that with the additional deductible and co-pays per year, I was better off paying for my medical out of pocket until I could get Medicare. I kept my fingers crossed that I didn't get a disease I couldn't handle out of pocket. I got Medicare in the nick of time when some chronic medical conditions came home to roost and some old age ailments kicked in. I'm not telling you to take the same gamble that I did, but I just couldn't pay anymore for what amounted to less coverage for the next three years. I'm so disappointed that our government doesn't have the decency to extend Medicare to all who want to buy into it as an alternative option until they turn 65 and qualify for it.
