A candidate promoted by Sarah Palin went down in Georgia's runoff election Tuesday night -- and now one of the state's Republican congressmen is saying she should have stayed out of it.
Palin endorsed Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel in the gubernatorial primary runoff and held a high-profile rally for her. Handel lost, narrowly, to Rep. Nathan Deal.
Before Palin's endorsement, Handel trailed in a crowded GOP field; afterward she surged and ended up in a runoff with Deal.
Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) said Tuesday morning that he didn't understand Palin's involvement.
"Why Sarah Palin decided to get in the race is beyond me," he told the "America's Morning News" radio show*. "I don't know why she feels compelled to get into primaries all over the country. But, you know, fortunately Georgia voters are doing their own thinking on things like this."
