Woodward up and quoted WH / Pentagon high level sources as saying "the surge" was NOT the reason for the decline in violence in Iraq, it was the kill squads.

And he said IN HIS BOOK (IIRC) that they pled with him not to make this info public, lest American lives be endangered by the enemy's realization that it was Americans, not rival Iraqi terrorists, doing the assassination.

So Woodward basically said in his book that he would not be giving us (the reader) details on these "kill squads" EVEN THO HE HAD the details.

And lest the public think (as most Dems/DUers have since been suckered into thinking, to this very day) that "the surge worked".

Which is why you don't hear daily calls for withdrawal from Iraq.

And why Olbermann APOLOGIZED to his viewers for still doing the "days in Iraq" countdown for a short while before and after the election, "even though violence has declined there" and we're "winning" the illegal war now that a Dem is in charge or somesuch.

And violence has dropped EVEN more in Iraq now that it is a sustainable protectorate, with US troops confined to huge permanent bases guarding the oil fields.

I'm asking because I don't know anything about these "kill squads" other than what Bob Woodward told us.

I haven't read up on the recent leak.
