52. For this kind of corruption to happen...
...there has to be so many people involved--district attorneys, cops, and even
internal affairs, etc.

I suppose if enough sociopaths rise to positions of power--they will misuse that
power. It's really not surprising that things like this happen.

With the situation in your area, does the media give it the deserved coverage? Or
does the media block the story or kow tow to local power? It sounds like, in your
situation, the abuse of power and criminal activity is pretty much out in the open.

My hunch is that if they're so blatant--and full of arrogance--they do not fear
retribution. The only way criminals can become so complacent, is if they do not
fear prosecution, due to systemic corruption. They know "the powers that be"
are on their side.

Have you ever tried to get the attention of national media, such as Dateline? As
a former journalist, I'm all for going around arrogant bullies and shining the
spotlight on them.

Sorry to drone on. I do understand, because I have a similar situation. Once
you've seen the underbelly of society, it gives you a different perspective. Most
of the time, I feel that people walk around, believing that the world works a certain
way. Many times, it does not. Situations like these are a grave injustice, and I'd
like to think that the light of truth will shine on injustice.

These people can't cover up forever.
