9. The difficult part of this for me is the faulty thinking behind this
I am guessing she is to preach about abstinence to other teens?

Here's the problem part of that deal. Years ago, when I was the person at our school coordinating anti-drug and anti-alcohol education for teens, we had SCORES of folks who'd come in and share their "I hit bottom, found a way out, and now I'm fine" stories. Not that those stories were bad or not inspirational, but here is where the research on that approach finally went: Teens see these folks who experimented or really got hooked (or in Bristol's case, got pregnant), out on speaking tours, looking confident, getting a lot of attention for being able to 'survive' their drug/alcohol/sex addiction. And you know what teens think after seeing these inspirational talks? "Well look! He/She did it and they turned out OK!!!"

It does not work.

But I am sure that is not the point in the Palin family.

It's all about the Benjamins.

Poor kids.
