Good morning and Happy Mother's Day DU. Some of you might know me as a big Jimmy Carter fan. I am. I have read many of his books, and have enjoyed studying his life and presidency.
Recently DU'er KPETE posted a thread - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=8289860&mesg_id=8289860 - documenting more (Russian) proof that Regan/Bush did in fact offer Iran an arms deal to hold American hostages longer then needed.

I've always thought that this is the case.

But I do not think that the soviet / Russian documents offer solid proof of these events.

To me, solid proof would come in the form of a statement by either Robert Gates or Jimmy Carter. Gates is accused in the Russian/Soviet report of taken part in the hostage for arms deal. Jimmy Carter is accused of also negotiating an arms for hostages deal with Iran.

I've read several of Carter's books. He does mention the Iranian crisis, but to the best of my recollection, never admits to negotiating with Iran an arms deal to release the hostages.

If Carter did take part in these types of negotiations, there is no reason to hide it now.

I really want to know.
