Too many keyed paint jobs, nasty notes written in lipstick across my windows, and angry confrontations with pissed off conservatives who camp out at my car and wait for me to return just so they can scream at me about being a "socialist", "traitor", "tree hugger", or "fag". I was more than willing to go toe-to-toe with these dumbshits when I was younger, but the last thing I want to do today is to walk out of store with my 6 year old and be confronted by some inbred teabagger angered by my political stickers.
Stickers on your car are, essentially, public political statements. When you make public political statements, there's a segment of those who disagree with your positions who are always willing to stand up and debate you publicly about them, whether you're interested in hearing their opinions or not. There's an even smaller segment who are willing to take their opposition much further than just debate. When you make public political statements, you must be aware of that possibility, and be willing to deal with it if it comes up.
I'm not willing to deal with it anymore.
