Like I said upthread, he's not a violent kid and when I wanted him to take self-defense or boxing classes a few years ago, he didn't want to do it. Maybe now he'll change his mind, but a tazer is something I might seriously look into. I work 3-11 in a nursing home and have to walk through a dimly lit parking lot with lots of bushes & trees. I can never get a spot near the door and am always nervous when I leave at night. I've only been there since April 19th and last week, one of the other nurses was telling me there was a serial rapist in the neighborhood not too long ago. They ended up having security patrol the parking lot and escort the night shift nurses to and from the building until they caught the guy. I might end up going the double tazer route! Thanks for the idea!
