12. I think it is reasonable to expect people to live and work here legally
Otherwise it is too easy for employers to exploit their labor. This not only is bad for the immigrant, but it is bad for our economy and weakens the labor force here. It depresses wages and makes for a lower standard of living for all U.S. citizens. They need to stay in their own countries and work for better labor laws and economic growth in their own neck of the world. I know we are a shining beacon for the world, but we can't take care of our own legal citizens if the rest of the world flocks here. As US citizens we need to make our government accountable when they support oppressive regimes.
