Soldier, WL graduate, killed Thursday in Iraq
STAFF REPORTS

A graduate of West Lafayette High School was killed in Iraq on Thursday.

Spc. Andrew Robert Weiss of in the 1st Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army was killed Thursday afternoon during a patrol, according to his mother, Judith Weiss.

Weiss was 28 years old.

He graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1997 and from Vincennes University in 2000 with a degree in building construction.

Surviving him are a wife, Margaret, a 4-year-old daughter, Lillian, and a 1-year-old son, Jacob. They live in Fort Hood, Texas, where Weiss was stationed before going to Iraq.
