58. My niece says she does not want to pay for anyone else's
health care.

She makes a six figures salary for Martin-Lougheed. Her husband works for UPS. They both get good health care. She actually wrote me and said she hates Obama, and doesn't want to pay for anyone else's health care. She says that doesn't sound emphatic but that is what she feels.
She has two young children too. I am flabbergasted.

She also said some of her friends work for/with the pharmaceuticals and they like their perks and free lunches/dinners etc.

She sent out so much hate mail to her father , my brother who forwarded it to me.

They love O'Reilly, limbaugh, hannity, bachman and especially Palin.

I finally wrote my brother to stop any communication with me. I am considering myself switched at birth. I am so different than my family. My mother would not even let me speak Obama's name. They all hate him because he is Black.

I am American born, Canadian by choice.
I can tell you the Canadian health system is very good. My son and husband both died of cancer but before they died they had the best care and treatment. My son had the same type of brain tumor as Ted Kennedy. From what I read, he had the same exact treatments as Kennedy. All of their treatment cost us nothing, plus our government paid approximately $2,000 each toward funeral expenses .

When my husband died I had no bills. I purchased a new house after he died , as we never owned one, just rented. I made 50 percent profit and was not taxed on that when I sold it 5 years ago . The 2nd home I purchased I also made 50 percent profit when I sold it last fall. No taxes on that profit.

As for my "high" income taxes I paid in 2009 - 21.5 percent, that is federal and provincial. I live on my pensions ( I retired at 57) and some of the money that was invested after my husband died. He was a blue collar worker, a railroad man. We made under $100k combined at the time of his death.

I pay $1500 a year for supplementary health insurance for drugs, dental, eye care, semi-private care, and phys-io. When I am 65 I will pay $100 a year for prescription drugs and each prescription will cost me, no matter how expensive the drug is, only $2. Seniors are taken care up here. The saying goes when you go to Florida you can tell the difference between the American seniors and Canadian seniors. Canadians are happy, we just have to get back after 4-5 months because we sure are not going to give up our health care.
We voted a few years ago who was our greatest Canadian..Tommy Douglas..premier of Saskachewan..He started up our one payer health care. The Americans wanted our health care on NAFTA table and us Canadians laughed and said no way, Jose....We will fight to the death for our health care. I am very, very serious when I say that. We love our health care and we love our abundant clean water. Canadians can fight well. Look at our history. When we believe in something we stand on guard and we WIN.,

America health care is for profit and only the rich can get the best care.
In Canada we ALL get great health care. We are humane and caring. I am proud to be Canadian.

It is so sorrowful to read what is happening down in the USA. and it is very scary. There may be a time when we Canadians will stop going south for our vacations. It may become too dangerous.
