sorta like why Colbert Report is hysterically funny to people not so wrapped into conservative thinking, whereas it sounds like honest preaching to wingnut conservatives.

it's a hoot, but also sad that this -- as clever as it is -- has no way to shame or cause enough cognitive dissonance in many of these people. so sadly, it becomes a preaching to the choir, instead of shocking the lost back into sensibility. oh well, you can lead a horse to water...
