40. the poor
Nice, their are a lot of miseducation about the poor. I didn't even know a lot about the challeges that face the poor until i took a class on poverty in america during college. Liberatarians and Conservatives try to make it sound like the poor are lazy. This stems from a history of racism when bigots would try to suggest that blacks and hispaics were lazy. This is not true however, most poor work full time jobs and some even work two jobs, but are unable to pay for their living expenses because the min wage is not at a livable rate (at least 10/hour). The problem becomes worst if you add kids in to their monthly payments. Single mothers have it the worst of all, because they are forced to either choose between making a income or taking care of their children. Once again conservatives will say something to the extent of "well poor people shouldn't be allowed to give birth to children".

Most of us if not all of us will be without income once in our lives, either a lay off or something else. But it won't effect us that much because we have our net worth to get us out. That being the finicial support from our parents, a love one, or selling our car or house to make up for the debt. Thus we can get out of poverity quite easily. The poor don't have those same option, some come from abusive families that refuse to support them.

Second of all, conservatives like the Heritage foundation will say that the poor have it better in the USA then any other nation. That simply because the poor have a microwave and TV they have it better then any other person in a poor country. This is not true the poor in america have no programs and little help from the local governments to get them out of poverty. Most of programs they do have are not well funded not to mention they usually find discrimation from some of these social workers. A poor white person gets treated a lot better then a poor black person going to these agenices.
