I think the dress code is semi-okay, and schools have the right to adopt one: six inches above the knee is pretty short, and strapless is an option. HOWEVER, these things should be changed about it: larger-breasted girls are going to show some cleavage in anything but a turtleneck. This code is discriminatory against them. The girl's dress did not look abnormally low. A girl with a smaller bust would have been fine in it. Also, telling boys they cannot wear tennis shoes with their tuxedos is just plain stupid. Nix that.

All this said--the punishment should be ILLEGAL. Corporal punishment is a no-starter in my book. No WAY.
