When your ancestral history is of pogroms, you can be forgiven for seeing a bullet come to close to home and think you're seeing an attack on you. Not all shooters have great aim. And if a white supremacist is stupid enough to draw a swastika backwards, it's still a threat.

Now, if Cantor is currently informed that it was indeed a stray bullet, and that some shooter with horrible aim was trying to hit a tree (or if some yahoo was trying to see the pretty bullet in the air), then Cantor needs to issue a statement saying that he now knows that the shot was not meant for him and was not a direct threat.
