Republican-lite strategy is not a winning formula and it is disastrous for the country, the world and the future of democracy

Ever since the terrible landslide defeat of George McGovern in 1972 - my God that was more than 37 years ago - the dominating conventional wisdom has been to keep moving farther and farther to the right, Simultaneously, the Republican Party has moved even farther and farther to the right - or as someone else put it, "the Democrats have moved to the right - while the Republicans have moved into the mental hospital."

People will unfortunately choose strong and wrong over weak and right. When there is no option for strong and right, strong and wrong will keep on winning and winning and winning.

If this report is true and they follow through, there might be a future for our democracy after all.
