To have ever tried was foolish and damaging.

Modern Republicans are rabid and liars who rule by manipulating the emotions of the less thoughtful Americans. They spread hate rather than hope and their base gobble it up and beg for seconds and thirds.

You can't "work with" an organization like that. You can't beat them at their own game either. Too many of their voters are just to freakin' stupid for facts to come into play in their voting decisions.

What he should have been doing from the start was feeding the Democratic base and keeping communication open with the Democratic fringe on both ends. Instead only the far right fringe feel they've been getting everything they voted for. Hindsight is 20/20 though which makes it easy to comment on things now, knowing how it's all turned out. Let's hope they pull their game together before the buzzer sounds.
