Hubby and I certainly don't condone the homophobia, but when mediocre performers use anti-gay slurs to whip up a crowd at a stage show, we interpret that more as ignorance than hatred.

Take it from me thousands more Jamaicans have migrated for jobs and security after 30 years of the 'shock doctrine' than they have over attacks on gays.
I dare JFLAG to post who killed at least 80% of those 30 gay men including the one who was strangled in that disgusting killing at his Montego Bay home recently.

Where you are correct is that there are ignorant people on this island particularly in Fundie churches and politicians who promote the derision of gays. How different is that from Pat Robertson et al? And yes there are several islands in the Caribbean where religious stupidity trumps people's basic rights.
