but I've never seen that type of "sawtooth" edge before. I thought deckle edges were "torn" ... period. If Amazon had it listed as a deckle, I would have realized it was simply a different technique than I was used to seeing. That would have allowed me to enjoy the look immediately, instead of calling Amazon and thinking, "Oh damn! I waited for weeks for this book and now I had to get a defective one!" :P

I'm glad I could give you a heads-up on the Amazon descriptions. Not sure when they started doing it. I noticed it for the first time a couple of months ago, when I was helping a friend track down a few old books. For all I know, they could have been doing it for years, LOL! :-)


On edit: I believe Amazon also calls it a "rough-cut edge" so if you're looking for a specific book, search for deckle edge and rough-cut edge.
