What you sense in my post is the frustration of someone who has tried to ask questions in the workplace, only to get called a lazy commie spic by the same yahoos who would benefit more than me. I have never been management, but I have seen people take opportunity and just use it as an excuse to be lazy, steal from the till, and take their fifth smoke break of the hour.
