38. Same problem at a Post Office
The post office on Spring street in Soho, of all places, often
has a continuous stream of Rush Limbaugh pouring loudly
through one of the vents. There can be up to fifteen people
waiting on line from 10 to 30 minutes listening to attacks on
the President of the United States and wishes "that he
fail"--in a public government building.

I complained and for a few days the vent was silent. But then
Rush returned. Complained again. Gone again. It happened a
third time and I haven't been back since. Supervisors are
never around.

I think partisan propaganda in a government building, that
people are forced to listen to, because we are waiting in line
for a government service, is actually against some sort of
post office code.

What bothered me is the line of New Yorkers who just stood
there, blankly listening, as if hearing the booming voice of
Rush spouting his hate was something acceptable and not
something to challenge.
