impeachment proceedings are done in secret, and the conviction in the senate is done in secret.

However, Mass pardons by Bush is very risky, because those pardoned cannot plead the 5th amendment if compelled to testify about abuses of power by Bushco.

Also, impeachment should still be carried out, even against those pardoned, because according to the Constitution impeachment also does the following: "disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States" In other words they cannot sneak back into power as did some of the iran contra/bcci crooks from the reagan/poppy years.
