How about laying blame where it might do some good.

Time to think outside the box.. The "consumers" (once called citizens) have borne the brunt of EVERY monetary crash brought on by greedy rich corporatists.. Perhaps we have all just had ENOUGH!!

so why not:

Legislate an immediate 30% "greed tax" for ANY goods built, assembled, manufactured outside the US, and shipped back her to be sold "on the cheap" ( and by that, I mean the USA..not American Samoa, Guam, or any of the phony "usa" locations we have become accustomed to)..

For companies that RE-locate back to the USA, a 5% REDUCTION of taxes, for every 10% they increase their USA workforce.

Maybe set in place a 10 year freeze on salaries for top corporate bosses.. No stock options..just a regular paycheck, like most of us out here.. Maximum $400K is OK..but no more..

Make the "networks" peel off the news divisions, and require that they report on ALL the news..even news that's not particularly liked by the "sponsors"..

Create a c-span-esque channel for each major party, so the candidates could have FREE air time to make their plans evident to us.. and then BAN all paid political advertising..

That ONE thing would mean that lobbyists would no longer have any real leverage with politicians. No NEED for big bucks for ads..no need for lobbyist money.. Anyone accepting lobby-money would be just a garden-variety CROOK, and should be prosecuted.

Freeze all credit card usage, and make everyone re-apply..and only the credit-worthy get cards..and even then only ONE of any "brand" of card..

Once millions of people had no access to credit they could not afford, there would be a necessary uprising to see about the underlying cause for our current troubles... stagnant/falling wages, in a time of ever-increasing expenses..

Maybe that 700 Billion would be better spent by doing a one-time "bail-out" of main-street people, and then no more credit cards..no more equity loans.. People , free from debt, will spend money..and money spent, boosts the overall economy.

A cut on the defense budget..across the board. We just cannot afford wars anymore... Bring our soldiers home, re-equip them, and keep our noses out of other people's business.. the money we could cut from defense would surely help us now..

Stop giving corporate welfare to enormous companies, some of which, have yearly profits higher than the entire GNP of whole countries.

There are probably many "small things" that could be done, which would add up to a BIG change..

People with addictions, often cannot "heal" until they truly hit bottom and take a realistic look at the mess they have made..

Have we found our bottom?? Maybe so.. Time to start the re-building..

One more thing.. People who perpetrated this decades-long fraud, MUST be named and prosecuted, if possible,..
