It has been said that power is the strongest aphrodisiac. From a purely genetic point of view, this could be understandable since the female of the species would naturally want her offspring to be fathered by the best possible genetic donor, which would often be the male with the most "power".

However, the women on DU are much smarter than that. They realize that many possible genetic donors are propelled to "power" by traits that they do not deem "preferable" in their own offspring.

Also, since we now have birth control, women are more free to "experiment". Just because a woman is attracted to a man for sexual and psychological reasons beyond her own common sense doesn't mean she has to bear a child by this man.

There is an old saying - Good Judgement comes from Experience. Experience comes from Bad Judgement.

Now, thanks to the birth control methods that many Fundamentalists rail against, a woman is more likely to gain experience and better choose the "appropriate" father of her child. Based on her personal experience.

We Men who think we would be Good Fathers support this. The Men who don't support this are the one's who just want to plant their seed and take no further responsibility. That's My Humble Opinion, anyway. Of course, my opinion is tainted. I think I would have been a good father, but I am sterile.
